The Josephine Foundation is an organization founded in the year 2002, and incorporated in the year 2004 to honor and remember Josephine Koslosky - an extraordinary woman who believed that through the disciplines of properly run and funded music, arts, and sports programs, young people and adults could reach for their dreams regardless of background, race, religion or financial status.  She believed everyone was equal and if allowed to chase his or her dreams, nothing was impossible. She believed all that was needed was an opportunity. She encouraged people to get involved in sports and performing arts programs in their communities. She also believed that people could help each other raise funds for charities and still have a great time doing it. This foundation will make every effort to keep these ideals alive in remembering her work with the children of East New York , Brooklyn in the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s.

Through its annual events and charitable works the Foundation will raise and distribute 100% of its proceeds, which will give its special recipients an opportunity to achieve their goals in the arts and sports. These grants will be given out at our Annual Gala in May, and will help many people realize their dreams. The Foundation’s Board of Directors will be responsible for nominating deserving individuals and programs each year. After careful discussion, they will present to the Chairman a list of Grants to be confirmed after review by financial and legal representatives. There will be a follow up review for each grant every year to monitor the use of the funds awarded. Each individual nominating a grant recipient will report on their nominee to the Board at a 6 month review. Additionally, a number of non-monetary awards will be given recognizing excellence in the areas of our mission.

Our goal is to grow by distributing 10% more each year than we did the one before. We will raise funds through private donations, fundraisers, concerts, events and public grants/awards.  While achieving this goal we will work to bring all peoples and communities, nationwide and eventually worldwide, closer together.

This group will also participate in various goodwill activities throughout the year. The Josephine Foundation’s name will become synonymous with good deeds and great events.

The Josephine Foundation is officially recognized as a 501 (c) (3) Public Charity Organization and Non profit Group since August 10, 2004 . The organization was sited for its work and granted permanent status as of January of 2009. All donations to The Josephine Foundation are fully tax deductible as allowed by the law.
